We didn't mean to take Spring Break so literally!!

Today is the first day of spring.. and what a beautiful day it is!! In fact the week has been gorgeous, the kids have had spring break this week..and we have enjoyed the beautiful weather!!! We went and played laser tag, and ate pizza one day with friends, followed by bike rides to the park, and as much running around, scootering, biking and keeping busyas possible.. we took the kids to the Gaylord Texan.. yee haw.. for 3 days to play in the pool..and well, just hang out and have a good time!! We came home Friday afternnon and got right to work.. I cleaned up inside.. laundry, dust, dishes.. the usual, and Clay did the outside stuff..(called the gardeners to mow the lawn) then got flowers and spent the afternoon planting, trimming and sprucing up the yard. He also found a nice fire pit and we ended the night with smores by the fire/pool! What a great week!!!
Woke up this morning with a day wide open. Clay had a basketball game, church ball championship game of some sort.. he was excited and left early to warm up.. the kids and I joined him a bit later to lend our support... which a nice plaster splint is now doing that job for us (being supportive!!).




here is Clays left arm, about 10 min into the game, he was running full speed to catch up to an opponent, apparently going faster then he realized he stopped himself at the wall.. his right hand landing on soft padding.. his left arm, well, it hit cinder blocks, full force, and snap went the top of his radius bone.. see above x-ray, the dr. drew (not Dr. Drew, just in case you were wondering) in the break for emphasis. It broke in multiple places and shifted some amount of degrees it shouldn't have. They put in an iv.. and game him some nice pain meds.. he is still a little loopy from it. The orthopedic dr. did a hematoma block to numb the area locally then reduced it while taking x-rays. The great thing was they let me sit and watch, it was crazy to watch this big strong man, tug and pull and push the bone straight again and then splint it and get it in the right place!! He now has a splint from his fingers to his shoulder, and has to go back in 10 days to see if it stayed in place. We are hoping it does, if not, then he will need surgery, dr. said its a 50/50 chance because of the severity of his break. Craziness here.. as always!! So we are trying to keep him comfy, he hurts, but we (meaning Clay) have good meds. I am so glad we got everything done yesterday and that we really had no plans today, because the day filled up quick! So here's to spring "break" for us. I going for summer vacation this year.. in stead of Summer break!!!
